1. It will allow us to defend what we really want and what we think is right or bad.
Rebuttal: Is'nt it that debate is arguing with a fact and not with our own wants whether it is right or not? Although it would allow us to defend on something still it would be useless. Why? This is because its the adjudicator who decides the winner of the debate.
2. It will train us to analyze and understand more about the political issues and other issues that is happening to our surroundings.
Rebuttal: We ourselves can analyze issues happening around us even without the process of debate. By just merely looking in our surroundings, we can already formulate conclusion about a certain issue. What' s the use of media nowadays?
3. It will improve our speaking and reasoning skills as well as to overcome our fear to be in front of many people.
Rebuttal: There are many ways in improving our speaking and reasoning skills and overcoming our fears in front of the people. Yes debate may somehow help us but, we don't have to debate with other people for improve such things. Even though how many times you would debate if still you don't have the determination and perseverance to overcome those fears and weaknesses, DEBATE IS STILL USELESS!!
4. It will challenge us to speak for ourselves and to think as fast as we can about the certain issues.
Rebuttal: Speak for ourselves? Is'nt it that debaters copy and paste their arguments from the internet? Now tell us how are we going to speak for ourselves when we already had researched about our motion an hour before the debate proper?
5. It can help us to have better listening skills and also in jotting down notes about the issues.
Rebuttal: Debate is not about jotting down notes, instead arguing with each others opinion. Jotting down notes ladies and gentlemen are adjudicators tasks and not debaters tasks! Debaters exchange opinions with each other and not listening on it.
6. To have fun talking about the same interests and sharing your opinions with others.
Rebuttal: Let me tell you ladies and gentlemen what debate is? Debate talks or argue about something and do not share opinions instead we rebutt with each others opinion.
7. Lastly, we learn how to listen and respects each others opinions.
Rebuttal: How are we going to show respect with each others opinion if we are rebutting each others opinion? At the of the day, we still have this hidden angers/hatred/grudges within us.
